Hi, I'm Olive
Fashion Designer/Game Artist who’s been studying fashion for the past 3 years at Columbia College Chicago. The storytelling and motivation fashion plays in daily life inspires me. My work is informed by a deep appreciation for 3-D art. I've been fascinated with fashion in video games and doll designs for 15 years, frequently spending hours observing the details and translating them into my own practices.
CAD-based technical design and patternmaking are my greatest tools, allowing me to bring my ideas to life. My approach when designing is to consider a multitude of perspectives. I'm committed to learning from the people I work with and my surroundings. Learning new technology to expand my design opportunities is exciting to me. I enjoy challenging work because it allows me to gain new experiences and accelerate my problem-solving skills while having fun!
Currently, I am working in the intersection of the game and fashion industries, with a strong interest in visual storytelling. Video game character fashion is special because it isn’t confined to the limits of real-world garment capabilities. Digital expression has grown and will continue to do so. My combined educational knowledge of tactile garment construction and eye for trend, detail, and visual storytelling, with my passion for game aesthetics, positions me to bridge the gap between the industries. Recently, I’ve developed a game prototype that is informed by synthesizing real-world trends with an understanding of people's desired digital expression capabilities.
